Many public policies in Africa have been hurriedly enacted in a reactionary manner, without a root cause analysis of the problem. Years into the implementation of such policies, proper studies have not been conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of such policies in tackling the respective problems they were enacted to tackle. Fresh policies are also being proposed by policy makers without being informed by research.
Given that many problems in Africa are caused, enabled and sustained by counter-productive policies, there is need for researchers in all fields to acquire necessary skills FOR navigating the policy landscape in their respective fields such that their academic research is better connected to public policy and therefore to the society.
This course will also provide you with opportunities to get research grants for funding your research.
The ideal candidate for this specialization are final year students, graduate students (from any field) and anyone working on or interested in research.
